She is also a successful lawyer who has worked in the areas of immigration, insurance subrogation, admiralty, maritime, EEOC discrimination.

Hello Everyone, I’m Ashira Mohammed and currently serve as the Mayor for the beautiful Town of Pembroke Park. I’m part of a new group of young energetic community leaders in Broward County. I’m proud to announce that my leadership, experience, passion and commitment to community is now on the ballot as a candidate for Florida State Representative District 101. The election for this seat will be held on August 18, 2020.
I was first elected to the Commission in 2003 at the young age of 26 and I am proud to hold the distinction of being the first elected official of Trinidadian decent in Broward County and in 2011 became the first minority Mayor for the Town of Pembroke Park. As a tribute to my passion and commitment to Improving The City of Pembroke Park, I became the first person in Pembroke Park’s nearly 60-year history to be re-elected in 2015 by my fellow Commissioners to a second consecutive four-year term as Mayor.
Throughout these last 9 years as Mayor of Pembroke Park, I’ve been humbled at the absolute pleasure of serving such a wonderful community every single day. The work we have done together has been truly amazing. The residents of Pembroke Park were national trailblazers in electing its first Black Commissioner and I believe that my work ethic, experience and administrative leadership will translate perfectly into becoming the next Florida State Representative in House District 101.
As my team and I embark on this next journey, I’m anxious to begin serving the nearly 200,000+ residents of this district 101.
